When I began this journey over five decades ago, it wasn’t with grand ambition it was with a simple intention: to build something honest, something lasting.
What started in the 1970s as a small yarn and fabric brokerage has today grown into a group that proudly touches millions of meters, thousands of lives, and countless industries. General Group began with textiles, but it was never just about fabric. It was about weaving discipline, dignity, and purpose into everything we do.
I have always believed in thinking from first principles breaking complexity down to what really matters. In business, that has meant focusing on fundamentals: quality over quantity, relationships over transactions, and long term impact over short term gains. Life, much like enterprise, has taught me that progress comes when we stay grounded yet open and that destiny often favors those who quietly persist.
As India rises on the world stage, I believe we are living through a special moment in history. To be a part of this nation’s economic transformation from building sustainable textiles, to powering our facilities with clean energy, to now advancing into packaging, real estate, and food is not just business for us, it is a responsibility.
