Umar General

MR. UMAR GENERAL (Founder, Chairman & Managing Director)

Mr. Umar General is the guiding force behind General Group a first principles thinker with over five decades of experience in textiles and entrepreneurship. From founding the group in the 1970s to overseeing its diversification into real estate, packaging, and renewables, he continues to lead with wisdom, grace, and a deep belief in India’s economic rise. His vision remains the compass by which the Group navigates change and growth.

MR. AMIN GENERAL (Director)

Amin General brings over 27 years of deep operational and strategic experience to the Group. He leads production, plant operations, banking, and factory optimization for the textile division managing over 5,000 workers across multiple integrated units. Instrumental in the Group’s sustainability journey, he has championed the shift to 100% renewable energy, secured global certifications, and implemented best in class ESG practices. Amin also spearheads the upcoming IPO strategy for General Polytex, aligning growth with governance and global capital standards.

MR. JUNED GENERAL (Director)

With 24 years of leadership within the Group, Juned General oversees legal affairs, corporate administration, and plays a critical role in scaling General Polyfilms — the Group’s fast-growing BoPET packaging business. From project financing and machinery commissioning to market development and regulatory navigation, he ensures seamless integration of operations across state lines. Juned is also at the forefront of relationship-building across partners, vendors, and government bodies, making him a cornerstone of both stability and expansion.

MR. ZAID GENERAL (Director)

Zaid General brings over 13 years of leadership marked by agility, people-first thinking, and brand insight. He heads the Group’s marketing, raw material procurement, sales strategy, and client experience — ensuring our buyers, from local distributors to global brands, receive top-tier service and product clarity. Beyond textiles, Zaid also leads the Group’s real estate arm, overseeing project development, commercial leasing, and land asset growth. An effective communicator and team builder, he is deeply involved in HR strategy, cultural development, and building future-facing partnerships.

MR. TAMEEM GENERAL (Business Development Executive)

The newest member of the leadership team, Tameem General brings global business acumen to General Group. A graduate of Northeastern University with experience at Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS) and Bain Capital, he currently drives the Group’s business development, international expansion, and IPO execution strategy. Tameem is also focused on integrating sustainability, digitization, and next-gen governance across business verticals. With a sharp eye on future opportunities, he represents the Group’s evolving mindset — rooted in legacy, built for tomorrow.
